Mississauga (Ontario) – The 2025 Nissan Sentra Cup season kicks off this weekend in Ontario at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTPM) in Bowmanville, near Oshawa. This iconic track will host the season's opening two races for the second consecutive year.
This marks the eleventh season of the Nissan Sentra Cup on Canadian tracks, thanks to the continued support of Nissan Canada and JD Promotion. Since the launch of the Nissan Micra Cup in 2015, which evolved into the Nissan Sentra Cup in 2021, drivers from diverse backgrounds have competed for the championship title.
This season, two-time champion Valérie Limoges (2022 and 2024) returns in pursuit of another title. The Quebec driver will be back behind the wheel of the same Sentra with which she won last year's championship. Securing a third crown is clearly her goal, but Nicolas Barrette — who battled for the title until the very last race last year — is aiming for his first championship! Always highly motivated, Barrette stands out as one of Limoges' strongest rivals this season, along with Simon Vincent, a consistent front-runner last year.

Éric Chaput, Nicolas Lévesque, Jean-François Couture, and Raphaël St-Pierre are also expected to be contenders, but they won't be the only ones. The Canadian series has once again succeeded in one of its main missions: attracting new drivers. Five rookies will race in the 2025 series, including Mathieu Lemyre, who competed in the 2024 season finale. This season's new drivers include P.O. Paquette, Marc-Antoine D'Amour, and François Bourassa, as well as young Baptiste Giménez. After several impressive seasons in karting, this 20-year-old French driver now based in the Montreal area will make his North American racing debut in the Nissan Sentra Cup.
The 2025 season's grid will feature no fewer than five rookie drivers.
"We're launching our eleventh season, and the series continues to attract new participants; some from karting, dirt track racing, or some completely new to motorsports. That fits perfectly with the goal of the Nissan Sentra Cup, and it will be interesting to see the mix of experienced drivers familiar with the tracks alongside new this season," says series promoter Jacques Deshaies. After CTMP, fans in the Maritimes will get their first opportunity to experience the Nissan Sentra Cup at Atlantic Motorsport Park in Nova Scotia (June 20–22), where three races will be held. The series will then head to Quebec for two events: the Nissan Grand Prix at the Complexe ICAR in Mirabel (July 6) and the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières (August 8–10). The season will conclude with three final races, back at CTMP and scheduled from August 29–31.
Two races will take place during the first event this May at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Series drivers will take to the track on Friday, May 16, for three 30-minute free practice sessions. On Saturday, qualifying will begin at 9:10 a.m., with the green flag dropping for the first race of the season at 1:45 p.m. for 40 minutes of action. The second race will take place on Sunday, May 18, starting at 11:25 a.m.
