MISSISSAUGA, Ont. – Nissan Canada is expanding the 2027 Nissan LEAF lineup with the introduction of the new LEAF S grade. With a starting Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP1) of CA$34,998 (CA$37,966 selling price2), the value-focused LEAF S delivers many of the technologies and charging capabilities found throughout the LEAF lineup. The 2027 Nissan LEAF will reach dealerships this fall.
Introduced for the 2026 model year, the third-generation Nissan LEAF builds on nearly two decades of EV experience, combining advanced technology, intuitive charging and everyday practicality. As the world's first mass-produced electric vehicle, LEAF helped pioneer electric mobility, and has continued to evolve alongside customer needs, with more than 500,000 vehicles produced globally.
"The LEAF continues to play an important role in Nissan's electrification journey. With the addition of the LEAF S, we're making electric mobility even more accessible for Canadians," said Steve Rhind, President, Nissan Canada Inc. "The new grade brings the lowest-priced entry point into EV ownership for Canadians while maintaining many of the technologies and capabilities found elsewhere in the lineup, giving customers even more reasons to consider Nissan."
An effortless EV experience
The 2027 Nissan LEAF is designed to simplify EV ownership. All LEAF grades feature a North American Charging Standard (NACS) charging port with Plug & Charge capability, helping drivers access one of North America's largest public charging networks with ease. LEAF's dual charging ports provide added flexibility, with a J1772 charge port on the driver's-side for Level 1 and 2 charging, and a NACS charge port on the passenger-side for access to faster charging speeds.
New for the 2027 model year, S+ grades and above feature an upgraded 11-kW onboard charger, helping reduce Level 2 charging times by an estimated 35%, or approximately two to three hours8.
Public charging is further streamlined through the NISSAN Energy Charge Network, accessible through the MyNISSAN Canada app, allowing drivers to locate and pay for charging at more than 25,000+ charging stations in Canada, all through a single integrated platform.
Also standard across the lineup is Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, which allows owners to use the vehicle's battery to power compatible external devices through an available adapter. From charging e-bikes to powering small appliances and camping equipment, V2L adds versatility beyond the drive.
With the addition of the S grade, customers can now choose the LEAF that best suits their urban commuting needs. LEAF S features a 53-kWh battery paired with a 174-horsepower electric motor and delivers up to 341 kilometers of estimated range9. S+ grades and above are equipped with a larger 75-kWh battery producing 214 horsepower and up to 488 kilometers of estimated range10.
Confidence for Canadian winters
The 2027 Nissan LEAF is designed to help maintain consistent charging performance even in colder temperatures thanks to its advanced battery thermal management system available on all grades. LEAF captures and reuses heat generated by the drive motor and onboard charging system to help maintain battery temperature and support charging performance during winter driving.
All grades also feature a standard heat pump system, battery heater and heated front seats, helping optimize efficiency, charging performance and cabin comfort during cold-weather operation.
To help ensure these systems perform in real-world conditions, Nissan subjected LEAF to extensive testing across a wide range of climates and charging environments, including northern Quebec, during the coldest time of the year.
Comfort, convenience and connectivity
LEAF offers a range of advanced connectivity technologies designed to make daily driving easier. LEAF S and S+ feature dual 12.3-inch displays, wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, while SV+ and PLATINUM+ grades add Google built-in11, including Google Maps, Google Assistant and Google Play.
LEAF SV+ and above feature wireless phone charging, TailorFit® seating surfaces, heated rear seats and power-adjustable driver seating. At the top of the lineup, PLATINUM+ adds a dimming panoramic roof, Bose® Personal Plus® premium audio, a head-up display, motion-activated power liftgate and 19-inch alloy wheels.
Confidence for the road ahead
Like all Nissan vehicles, the 2027 LEAF is equipped with technologies designed to enhance driver confidence and convenience. Standard Nissan Safety Shield® 3607, includes Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Prevention and Blind Spot Intervention.
All LEAF grades feature standard ProPILOT Assist12, which combines Intelligent Cruise Control with steering assistance to help drivers maintain a set speed and distance from the vehicle ahead while helping keep the vehicle centered in its lane. Secondary Collision Mitigation Braking12 is also standard across the lineup, helping enhance occupant confidence on every journey.
