Nissan Canada Inc. (NCI) released its sales figures for May 2008 today, with total volume sales for both Nissan and Infiniti brands totaling 9,678 units, up 19 per cent over May 2007. This marked a record month in the company’s history.

The Nissan brand accounted for 8,846 units in May, up 20 per cent year-over-year, also marking the best month on record for the Nissan brand. The Infiniti brand accounted for 832 units, selling 14 per cent more units than in May 2007.

Sales for Nissan in May were led by the Altima, which posted a 29 per cent increase over the same month last year, as well as the Versa with 3,187 units sold last month and a 13 per cent increase year-over-year making it a record month for the vehicle.
 
Sales for Infiniti were lead by the G with 478 units sold, while the EX35, Infiniti’s new luxury crossover sold 231 units in May. 

NISSAN HIGHLIGHTS

• Nissan brands marked best month on record with 8,846
• Versa sales posted a record month with a 13 per cent increase over May 2007
• The Altima continued strong with 1,938 units sold last month, an increase of 29 per cent

INFINITI HIGHLIGHTS

• The Infiniti G led sales for the brand with 478 units this month
• The all-new EX35 sold 231 units
• The sales of the M were up 24 per cent over May 2007

NCI HIGHLIGHTS

• NCI sold a record 9,678 Nissan and Infiniti vehicles combined this month
