The family of 2020 Nissan TITAN full-size pickups receives an extensive redesign for the 2020 model year, featuring substantial powertrain updates and unique styling among trim levels. TITAN now also offers standard Nissan Safety Shield 360 across all grade levels as Lane Departure Warning, Intelligent Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Intelligent Emergency Braking, Intelligent Blind Spot Warning with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Intelligent Driver Alertness, Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Hill Start Assist and High Beam Assist. All told, the new 2020 TITAN offers the most standard power, safety features and technology in class¹.

The most powerful standard V8 engine in class, new 9-speed transmission

Every 2020 TITAN is powered by a 5.6-litre Endurance® V8 gasoline engine rated at 400 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque.

The engine is mated with a new 9-speed automatic transmission with a larger final gear ratio of 3.692:1– providing more torque at the wheels in a given gear and smoother and faster acceleration. For example, 50 mph (80.4 km/h) to 70 mph (112.7 km/h) acceleration is estimated to have been improved by almost a full second (compared to the previous TITAN equipped with a 7-speed automatic transmission). The larger range also means better range coverage for optimal power on standing starts and at cruising speeds. The powertrain feel is more linear through the gears.

The engine utilizes Nissan's VVEL (Variable Valve Event & Lift) technology, which combines hydraulic-controlled variable valve timing and electronically controlled variable valve lift on the intake side to provide high performance and crisp response. The Endurance® V8 also features Direct Injection Gas (DIG™) technology, which provides better wide-open throttle performance and improved fuel economy and emissions performance (versus a non-direct-injection system) by reducing engine knock, improving combustion stability and offering precise injection control.

The 2020 TITAN comes standard with 4x4-drive. Nissan TITAN 4x4 models feature a shift-on-the-fly transfer case designed to ensure maximum power distribution in every gear. It distributes torque to both axles and provides four-wheel drive when added traction is needed on snow, ice, sand, mud, dirt, water or gravel.

Durable off-road performance has also been emphasized, with standard features such as Hill Start Assist, Brake Limited-Slip Differential (BLSD), Hill Descent Control (PRO-4X only), and electronic locking rear differential (PRO-4X only).

The 2020 TITAN features an enhanced Off Road Gauge that displays the vehicle's tire angle, relative pitch and roll angles. Without using a gyroscope, a new method was developed to calculate the vehicle's orientation using accelerometer data and calculating the vehicle's G-force.

Every 2020 TITAN also utilizes a durable chassis design, starting with the fully boxed, full-length ladder frame. The front suspension is a double-wishbone design, while a rigid rear axle suspension utilizes hefty leaf springs and leaf bushings, along with twin-tube shock absorbers. Hefty stabilizer bars are utilized front and rear. PRO-4X models feature Bilstein mono-tube off-road shocks. Hydraulic cab-mounts help isolate occupants from the chassis.

The 2020 TITAN rides on a choice of 18-inch steel or newly designed 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels or 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels – depending on grade or option level. Tire choices include 265/70R18, 275/60R20 all-season or 275/70R18 all-terrain tires.

Braking is provided by a 4-wheel disc system with 13.78 (35) x 1.2 (3.1)-inch (cm) front/13.58 (35) x 0.8 (2)-inch (cm) rear ventilated discs front and rear with hydraulic power assist. The high brake fluid pressure generated by an electric pump assists brake pedal force for a confident feel. Responsive steering is provided by a rack-and-pinion steering system.

The 2020 TITAN again offers confident available towing, utility features and driving aids, including an Integrated Trailer Brake Controller, Trailer Sway Control (TSC), Tow/Haul Mode with Downhill Speed Control and a Trailer Light Check system that allows one-person hook-up operation – including checking turn signals, brake lights and running/clearance lights. It offers an available maximum towing capacity of 9,370 (4250) pounds (kg) and maximum payload capacity of 1,680 (762) pounds (kg) when properly equipped.

A bold, confident redesigned exterior

The 2020 TITAN redesign was led by a team at Nissan Design America (NDA) in La Jolla, Calif., the creators of both the original TITAN and the current generation designs. Following a theme of "Powerful Warrior," the designers emphasized the truck's solid-beam construction and commanding presence with a high-tech appearance for the large LED headlights and LED Daytime Running Lights inspired by the distinctive TITAN warrior mask.

The redesigned TITAN lineup offers unique grille designs to give the TITAN's powerful new look a higher degree of differentiation among grade levels – allowing for more owner customization straight from the factory. A distinctive new front bumper with a new grille is available on all grades. The Platinum Reserve is more reserved with a satin chrome finish on the grille and the TITAN PRO-4X is the most dramatic with a black grille centered around the first-ever Nissan badge scripted in lava red. The lava red colour accents continue on the tow hooks of the rugged PRO-4X.

The new headlights produce around 120 percent more light output in low beam than the previous TITAN design, giving the driver a much better view of both ahead and the sides of the road. They are standard on TITAN PRO-4X and Platinum Reserve grades. The available LED fog lights add another 15 degrees of visibility on each side of the TITAN's front end. High Beam Assist, which allows drivers to leave the light stalk in high beam position indefinitely without blinding drivers or pedestrians, is standard on all grades.

The new daytime running lights are among the largest ever produced by Nissan and consist of four LED boards putting out 800 lumens each. They are standard on PRO-4X and Platinum Reserve grade levels.

New all-LED lighting has been added to the pickup bed, using four light sources for full surround lighting – greatly assisting those utilizing the bed at night or in early morning. The rear exterior design includes new LED lights and tailgate finishers. The new tailgate finishers, like the grille surrounds, are customized to differentiate grade levels. Just as the grilles feature unique personalities for each trim, TITAN XD PRO-4X features a black finisher, while Platinum Reserve utilizes a satin chrome finisher.

Other new exterior items include the front bumper, fog lights, badging and new wheel designs. The new interlocking frame grille and surround is designed to convey strength, boldness and precision while enhancing cooling performance for the 5.6-litre V8 engine.

The 2020 TITAN Crew Cab features a standard 5.5 (1.67)-foot (m) bed. It is designed to work hard and play hard, with a wide range of available functionality features. For example, Nissan's popular Utili-track® Bed Channel System features four heavy-duty aluminum alloy cleats that move and lock anywhere along the walls, as well as bed floor and header tracks that give the user endless tie-down possibilities.

Dual lockable in-bed "TITAN Box" storage boxes, available as an accessory on TITAN and standard on TITAN XD PRO-4X Luxury and Platinum Reserve, sit sight-unseen at street level and can hold a wide range of essential work and recreational equipment. Unlike other pickup bed storage boxes, the TITAN units are accessible from inside the bed without having to remove a camper top or tonneau cover. The boxes are watertight (and drainable) and can be used as a cooler for picnics or tailgating. They are also easily removable for times when extra bed capacity is required. Other TITAN bed features include the popular spray-on bedliner, 110-volt in-bed access and a damped tailgate that is light to lift and smoothly damped when lowering.

There are four dynamic new colours among the palette of eight total exterior colours. Colour availability is matched specifically to model grades. The new colours are Super Black, Red Alert, Baja Storm (PRO-4X) and Cardinal Red Metallic (Platinum Reserve). Carryover colours include Gun Metallic, Pearl White (Platinum Reserve), Glacier White and Deep Blue Pearl.

First-class interior with available high-resolution 9" touchscreen

The sense of commanding technology continues into the redesigned TITAN interior, which combines first-class accommodations with a sense of crafted detailing and premium finishes.

TITAN's standard 8.0-inch center area display is the largest standard screen in the class, while the available Integrated Command Center with 9.0-inch touchscreen (standard on PRO-4X and Platinum Reserve) features WXGA resolution – higher than HD. It serves as the gateway to the 2020 TITAN's enhanced next-generation connectivity that includes standard Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. The internal Wi-Fi router allows rear seat passengers to stream their favorite content (Wi-Fi data subscription required, sold separately). Up to seven devices can be connected.

A 7.0 (18)-inch (cm) programmable driver information display is nearly three (7.6) inches (cm) larger than most competitors' displays and helps ensure that customers can access meaningful vehicle information easily and clearly.

TITAN Crew Cab model occupants are treated to a new available Dual Panel Panoramic Moonroof, the first offered on TITAN and one of the largest in the segment measuring over three-feet square.

The next-generation NissanConnect® allows over-the-air (OTA) software updates, new safety and security features, HD Traffic and Google Places/Search⁸. Also available on the 2020 TITAN is NissanConnect Services, a suite of convenience and security features that provide assistance when owners need it most – including remote access features and emergency response services. NissanConnect Services can be accessed from inside the vehicle, on a computer, on a smartphone, or smartwatch app.

TITAN's Fender® Premium Audio System returns for a second year. It includes 12 speakers. The Fender® Bassman Subwoofer helps drive energetic, powerful bass response with ear-pleasing precision. The system's 485-watt, 9-channel amplifier with Panasonic's proprietary Acoustic Motion Control™, which renders the reverberation and ambience of original recordings with stunning realism.

Every 2020 TITAN includes front and rear outboard Zero Gravity seats that help maximize posture positioning for enhanced comfort during long distance driving. Heating and cooling front seats are available. Heated front seats come standard for models with captain's chairs and heated rear seats are standard on leather trim levels.

The 2020 TITAN's first-class interior accommodations include specially selected seat and trim materials and finishers for each grade level. Interior storage has also been enhanced for the new model year, and additional assist grips allow for more assistance getting in and out of the vehicle.

Standard Nissan Safety safety Shield 360 with Standard Rear Intelligent Emergency Braking

The 2020 TITAN is a showcase for Nissan Intelligent Mobility technologies, starting with standard Nissan Safety Shield 360 – a suite of six advanced driver-assist systems that come standard. Safety Shield 360 includes Intelligent Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), High Beam Assist (HBA) and Standard Rear Intelligent Emergency Braking (R-IEB)³.

The new TITAN also features a number of other available advanced technologies – Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Intelligent Around View® Monitor⁶ (I-AVM) Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC),⁹ and Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR). Intelligent Driver Alertness (I-DA) and Nissan's innovative Rear Door Alert (RDA)¹⁰ are  standard on all grade levels. And, the 2020 TITAN now includes eight air bags (versus the previous six) and four seat belt pretensioners (versus the previous two).

The available Intelligent Around View® Monitor (I-AVM)⁶ provides a composite "bird's eye" view of the surrounding area from front, rear and side cameras to help with parking and pulling in and out of tight spaces and even off-roading at low speeds. The system also includes Moving Object Detection (MOD)⁷, which helps alert the driver to detected moving objects around the vehicle via an on-screen notification and warning chime.

2020 TITAN model lineup and option packages

The 2020 TITAN is offered in four Crew Cab grades, in 4x4 drive. Also available is the 2020 TITAN XD, which is offered in Crew Cab 4x4 models and in a choice of five trim levels.

TITAN S Crew Cab model is equipped with a front manual split bench seat (40/20/40), standard Intelligent Auto Headlights, cloth seats, flip-down center seat with armrest, dual cupholders and storage in the seat back and bottom. Audio and entertainment is provided via a new 8.0 (20)-inch (cm) colour display with multi-touch control, NissanConnect® featuring Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ and AM/FM audio with six speakers, RearView Monitor, two USB connection ports (1 Type A, 1 Type C), Streaming audio via Bluetooth®, Hands-free Text Messaging Assistant and Sirius XM® radio (SiriusXM® subscription required, sold separately).

TITAN SV Crew Cab models come in three different configurations: SV, SV Convenience and SV Premium. All SV's add a chrome front bumper and door handles, front tow hooks, a painted rear bumper, LED rear combination lighting, power adjustable heated outside mirrors, and Traffic Sign Recognition. On the interior, stepping up to SV adds standard floor carpeting, LED cabin lighting, an overhead console with sunglass holder, and front sun visors gain an illuminated vanity mirror with extensions.

New for MY20, SV now includes towing equipment, as well as added bed utility features. This configuration now comes with manual extendable tow mirrors, an integrated brake controller, trailer hitch and harness along with the useful trailer light check function. Bed Utility is improved with standard Utili-track® cargo channel system with tie-down cleats, LED tailgate lighting, 110V outlet in the bed, spray-on bedliner and Flat Floor Storage Box in 2nd Row to store tie-down straps and Utili-track cleats.

The SV Convenience is an alternative configuration that provides a plethora of additional features without the towing and bed utility equipment included with the basic SV. This configuration gets an upgraded Integrated Command Center with 9.0 (23)-inch (cm) high-resolution touchscreen display, NissanConnect® Services powered by SiriusXM® (SiriusXM® subscription required, sold separately) and Navigation. Standard on SV convenience are heated front driver and passenger Captain's seats, and a centre console with a new dedicated configurable cellphone holder, Intelligent Key system, front and rear parking sensors, Dual Zone automatic climate control with rear HVAC vents, as well as a power sliding rear window.

The SV Premium remains the top offering of the SV grades combining all of the features that SV Convenience offers with the additional towing and bed utility equipment.

The off-road-oriented TITAN PRO-4X comes with one available package: PRO-4X Luxury Package. It comes with 275/70/R18 OWL all-terrain off-road tires, 18x8-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with painted dark finish, Bilstein off-road shock absorbers, electronic locking rear differential, lower radiator skid plate with satin chrome finish, and Hill Descent Control. PRO-4X exterior features include LED front fog lamps, LED headlamps with LED Daytime Running Lights, Nissan Intelligent Key™ with door handle request switch, semi-gloss dark painted overfenders, semi-gloss dark grey lower front fascia and rear bumpers, black tailgate finisher with PRO-4X logo and bedside decals.

Standard Trailer Sway Control, Trailer Brake Controller and Trailer Light Function Check help make towing heavy loads more stable and less burdensome to the driver.

PRO-4X interior features include, heated 8-way power driver's seat, driver power lumbar support, stain-resistant seat covering with a vinyl bolster and "PRO-4X" embroidery. Between the front captain's seats is a large center console box with soft-touch topped armrest, side pockets and rear cupholders. The leather-wrapped steering wheel, center console lid, arm rest and instrument panel all have unique contrast stitching. Other details include metallic instrument panel finishers, and PRO-4X-branded floor mats. For comfort, PRO-4X comes equipped with dual zone auto air conditioner with digital display in the HVAC control, and rear A/C vents. PRO-4X also includes standard NissanConnect with Navigation, Integrated Command Center with 9.0 (23)-inch (cm) high-resolution touchscreen display, SiriusXM® Traffic and Travel Link (SiriusXM® subscription required, sold separately), Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) and rain-sensing wipers. It also come equipped with the 12-speaker Fender® Premium Audio System with 485-watt, 9-channel amplifier with Panasonic's proprietary Acoustic Motion Control™.

The PRO-4X Luxury Package features an interior distinguished by leather-appointed seats, heated & ventilated driver and passenger seats, the new dual panel panoramic moonroof, heated steering wheel, passenger-side 4-way power seat, and power tilt and telescopic steering, memory function for both the seat and the tilt/telescoping steering wheel. It also includes Intelligent Around View® Monitor (I-AVM)⁴, and heated rear seats.

The top-of-the-line TITAN Platinum Reserve is distinguished by its premium leather-appointed seats with "Platinum Reserve" branding on the seat backs, "Platinum Reserve" exterior badging, 20x8-inch dark chrome-like wheels, driver and passenger heated and cooled front seats, Satin Chrome grille surround and chrome mesh grille, leather-wrapped steering wheel with a wood insert, and dark chrome-accented vent knobs and cup holder trim. It also includes a chrome front bumper and body-colour rear bumper, chrome exhaust tailpipe finishers, dark chrome capped side mirrors, proximity-activated puddle lamps and chrome step rails. Also standard are front and rear metallic kickplate finishers with "Platinum Reserve" logos.

Three option packages are available, depending on grade level: SV Convenience Package, SV Premium Package and PRO-4X Luxury Package.

The XD Difference

When towing and hauling is the mission, it is time to step up to the TITAN XD. The new 2020 TITAN XD offers the comfort of a light-duty truck with the towing confidence of a heavy duty hauler.  Dimensionally, you can see the size difference the XD brings. Compared to the light-duty TITAN, XD is three inches (7.6 cm) taller, 11.8 inches (27.9 cm) longer in wheelbase and 14.8 inches (35.6 cm) longer overall. The extra length comes from the full size 6.5 foot (1.98m) bed and the unique XD frame.
Every TITAN XD model is built on a unique frame and chassis (compared to the TITAN). The fully boxed, full-length ladder frame is extensively reinforced and strengthened for TITAN XD to provide added stiffness, vertical and lateral bending, and torsional rigidity. It also features an extended 151.6-inch (385 cm) wheelbase – about 15 inches (38 cm) longer than TITAN models (Crew Cab comparison), allowing for a full-size, 6.5-foot (1.98m) bed.

For 2020, the TITAN XD's standard 5.6-litre Endurance® V8 gasoline engine is now rated at 400 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque (versus the previous 390 horsepower and 394 lb-ft of torque) and is mated to a new 9-speed automatic transmission. The larger final gear ratio of 4.083:1 (versus 3.692:1 for TITAN) provides more torque at the wheels in a given gear and smoother and faster acceleration. The larger range also means better coverage for optimal power on standing starts and at cruising speeds. The powertrain feel is more linear through the gears.

To maximize stability, handling and ride comfort, TITAN XD uses a heavy-duty, highly stable suspension design. The double-wishbone with stabilizer bar front suspension is reinforced and tuned for hard use, and the rigid rear axle suspension utilizes hefty leaf springs and leaf bushings, along with twin-tube shock absorbers.

The axle is a large, purpose-built design. The rear differential measures 9.84 inches (25 cm) with 3.5-inch axle tubes, while the front differential measures 9.25 inches (25 cm). Both are manufactured by American Axle.

Braking is provided by a robust 4-wheel disc system with 14.2 (36) x 1.5 (4)-inch (cm) front/14.4 (37) x 1.2 (3.1)-inch (cm) rear ventilated discs with hydraulic power assist. The high brake fluid pressure generated by an electric pump assists brake pedal force for a confident feel.

Helping TITAN XD owners take advantage of its ample towing power³ are a range of available hitches – including an integrated gooseneck hitch engineered into the frame and easily accessible in the bed. The integrated gooseneck hitch includes a plug inside the bed for even greater ease of towing.

Among the list of TITAN XD's available towing aids are an Integrated Trailer Brake Controller, Trailer Sway Control (TSC), Tow/Haul Mode with Downhill Speed Control and a Trailer Light Check system that allows one-person hook-up operation – checking turn signals, brake lights and running/clearance lights from inside the cab or with the key fob.

TITAN XD owners will have a host of tools to assist with trailer hook-ups. This includes the  RearView Monitor with Trailer Guides and the available Intelligent Around View® Monitor (I-AVM)⁴ that provides a composite "bird's eye" view of the surrounding area from front, rear and side cameras to help with tight parking or even off-roading at low speeds. The system also includes Moving Object Detection (MOD)⁵, which helps alert the driver to detected moving objects around the vehicle via an on-screen notification and warning chime.

All of the overbuilt components and trailer-assist technologies allow the TITAN XD to tow up to 10,880 (4,935) lbs (kg).

The 2020 TITAN XD will be offered in Crew Cab body configurations, 4-wheel drive, and five well-equipped grades – SV, SV premium, PRO-4X, PRO-4X Luxury and Platinum Reserve.
