The “right sized” 5-passenger Qashqai slots between the popular Rogue, Nissan’s #1 selling Canadian model, and the front-wheel drive (FWD) only Nissan Kicks. Qashqai fills a need for singles and couples who want more space and versatility than the average sedan for everyday urban use and social activities, plus all-wheel drive (AWD) capability.

The 2022 Qashqai is available in FWD (S and SV) and Intelligent All-Wheel Drive configurations, and in three well-equipped grade levels S, SV and SL.

Sporty exterior, wheel design, bold colour choices

The 2022 Qashqai features a sporty hood, V-motion grille and bumper with LED signature Daytime Running Lights.

The 2022 Qashqai’s compact body projects powerful fender volume and a wheel-oriented stance, along with agile and robust lower body sides, giving Qashqai a powerful presence. The exterior features a large rear cargo opening and a wide rear body appearance, along with a standard rear spoiler.

A selection of wheels and tires are offered, depending on grade level. Qashqai SL comes with a 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheel design mounted with 225/45R19 all-season tires, providing a more premium look. Qashqai S and SV features standard 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with 215/60R17 all-season tires.

Other exterior details include body-colour front and rear bumpers, black wheel arches and roof molding, body-colour outside mirrors with integrated turn signals, heated outside mirrors and available roof rails. Also available is a power sliding moonroof with sliding shade. Qashqai has a coefficient of drag of 0.33.

Automatic on/off headlights ae standard, LED low- and high-beam headlights and fog lights are available, and High Beam Assist (HBA) is standard on Qashqai as part of the standard Nissan    Safety Shield 360 technology suite. High Beam Assist allows drivers to leave the headlight  stalk in high beam position indefinitely without blinding drivers. In the rear, a combination light design matches the more dynamic look of the front end.

The 2022 Qashqai is available in seven exterior colours: Monarch Orange Metallic (premium colour) – plus Magnetic Black Metallic, Gun Metallic, Scarlet Ember Tintcoat (premium colour), Pearl White TriCoat (premium colour), Glacier White and Caspian Blue Metallic.

Setting the standard for safety

Nissan Safety Shield® 360 is standard on all 2022 Qashqai grades. Part of the Nissan Intelligent Mobility strategy, it helps provide front, side and rear safety monitoring and intervention technologies¹. Safety Shield® 360 includes Intelligent Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Automatic Braking, Lane Departure Warning, radar-based Blind Spot Warning, Rear  Cross Traffic Alert and High Beam Assist.

Standard equipment on Qashqai SL for 2022 are Intelligent Driver Alertness² and Traffic Sign Recognition.

In addition, the list of standard safety and security features in the Qashqai includes the Nissan Advanced Air Bag System with dual-stage supplemental front air bags with seat belt and occupant classification sensors; front seat-mounted side impact supplemental air bags; roof-mounted curtain side impact supplemental air bags with rollover sensor for front and rear-seat outboard occupant head protection. Supplemental rear seat-mounted side air bags and supplemental front knee air bags.

Other standard features include three-point front and rear seatbelts, front seat belts with pre- tensioners and load limiters and adjustable upper anchors; LATCH System (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children); and Vehicle Dynamic Control with Traction Control System.

A sporty yet refined interior

The 2022 Qashqai interior is designed to keep up with owners’ active lifestyles. It has the commanding ride height of a compact SUV, combined with a driver-oriented cockpit that provides a sporty, fun-to-drive feel.

The Qashqai seating includes a standard six-way, manual adjustable driver’s seat on S and SV, eight-way power adjustable driver’s seat, including 2-way lumbar support is available on SL, four-way manual adjustable front passenger seat, 60/40 split fold-down rear seat with available rear seat centre armrest and standard rear seat heating/cooling centre console vents.

Behind the second row seat is up to 566 litres of cargo space (up to 1,509 litres with the second row seat folded down), accessible through the wide rear door. Qashqai also offers the innovative Divide- N-Hide® Cargo System, which is standard on SL grade. Included as standard on all grades are a cargo area cover and six luggage hooks (four floor, two side).

The instrument panel features Fine Vision electroluminescent gauges and 5.0-inch centre metre colour display with Advanced Driver AssistÔ Display. The front centre console includes an integrated armrest and storage compartment, along with a 12-volt power outlet. Qashqai SV and SL grades include Nissan Intelligent KeyTM with Push Button Start.

Two interior colours are offered: Charcoal and Light Gray, along with available Gun Metal or Gloss Black finishers. Qashqai SL features stylish Gloss Black/Silver painted interior finishers.

Standard Rear Door Alert, Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, available ProPILOT Assist

Nissan’s innovative Rear Door Alert system is standard on all 2022 Qashqai grade levels, while ProPILOT Assist is available on SV and SL grade. ProPILOT Assist is a “hands-on” driving assistance technology that eases driver workload by reducing the amount of driver acceleration, steering and  braking input under certain driving conditions, such as single-lane highway driving.³

All 2022 Qashqai models include Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility, with a NissanConnect® 7.0-inch colour touch-screen display. Qashqai also has a number of available connected technology and smartphone integration features, including Nissan Door to Door Navigation and NissanConnect® Services telematics, standard on Qashqai SL models.

Standard interior features in the 2022 Qashqai include SiriusXM® Radio, four-speaker AM/FM/CD audio system USB connection port for iPod® interface and other compatible devices, Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone System, Streaming Audio via Bluetooth®, Hands-free Text Messaging Assistant (compatible smartphone required) and Rear View Monitor. Also available is dual-zone automatic air conditioning. The available Remote Engine Start system⁴ provides flexibility to start the Qashqai remotely using the keyless entry fob.

2.0-litre engine, nimble handling, available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive

While Qashqai shares the CMF (Common Module Family) platform with the larger Rogue, Qashqai stands on its own as a stylish, nimble, fun-to-drive and affordable compact SUV. The Qashqai has a 58.42-mm/2.3-inch shorter wheelbase and a 297.18-mm/11.7-inch shorter overall length than Rogue, helping make it more maneuverable in city traffic and an ideal size for tight city parking spaces.

Every 2022 Qashqai comes equipped with a standard 2.0-litre DOHC 16-valve inline -cylinder rated at 141 horsepower @ 6,000 rpm and 147 lb-ft of torque @ 4,400 rpm. The engine features Direct Injection Gasoline system, Twin CVTC (Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control) on both intake and exhaust, DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coated valve lifters, TCV (Tumble Control Valve) and an 11.2:1 compression ratio. The engine is matched with an Xtronic CVT transmission with standard Eco Mode switch. Fuel economy⁵ is rated at 8.6L/100 km city, 7.3L/100 km highway and  8.0L/100 km combined for FWD models with the Xtronic CVT transmission. Qashqai AWD models are rated at 9.0L/100 km city, 7.5L/100 km highway and 8.3L/100 km combined⁵.

Nimble handling is the result of the 2,646 mm wheelbase, a front independent-strut suspension with stabilizer bar and twin-tube shock absorbers and multi-link independent rear suspension with twin-tube shock absorbers and stabilizer bar. While many competitors in the compact SUV segment choose a rear torsion beam suspension, Qashqai offers an independent rear multi-link design to provide that extra sense of dynamic performance.

Nissan believes buyers coming into this segment, usually as first time SUV owners, want to enjoy driving excitement and feel a connection to the road.

Responsive steering is provided by an Electric Power-assisted Steering with Sport setting Four- wheel vented disc brakes with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist are also standard.

The available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system can quickly respond and adapt to changing conditions. Intelligent AWD initially delivers power to both front and rear wheels for improved grip. Once the vehicle is up to speed, the system sends all of the power up front (100:0 ratio), resulting in higher efficiency. In slick conditions and tight corners, Intelligent AWD automatically transfers the optimal amount of power from front to rear, up to a mix of 50:50 distribution ratio.

Every Qashqai also offers a standard Tire Pressure Monitoring System with position monitoring and Nissan’s innovative Easy-Fill Tire Alert. Hill Start Assist is also standard, along with a suite of confidence-inspiring dynamic technologies, with Active Trace Control, Active Engine Braking and Active Ride Control.

Three well-equipped Qashqai trim levels

The 2022 Nissan Qashqai comes in three well-equipped trim levels – S, SV available in FWD or AWD and SL standard in AWD.

Along with the long list of standard features found on Qashqai S, the Qashqai SV adds: Dual-Zone Automatic Temperature Control, Nissan Intelligent KeyTM, two additional audio system speakers, silver finished roof rails, dual illuminated vanity mirrors, Remote Engine Start system⁴, heated leather-wrapped steering wheel and leather-wrapped shift knob.
