Montreal, QC. – Today, Nissan Canada added some excitement to the show floor by showcasing two new vehicles at the 2017 Montreal International Auto Show (MIAS). The 2017 Qashqai compact sport utility vehicle, Nissan's latest addition to the Canadian lineup, and the 2017 Sentra NISMO made their national auto show debuts, while the 2017 Rogue: Rogue One Star Wars Limited Edition made its regional debut.

In Canada, the compact crossover segment ranks number one, accounting for approximately 22 per cent of the total industry volume in 2016. As Canadians look more and more toward vehicles that achieve the functionality they need for their active and busy lifestyles, demand for this segment continues to increase. These buyers are looking for more space than a compact sedan, while still seeking the maneuverability and fun-to-drive feel. The 2017 Nissan Qashqai brings something truly innovative to consumers, offering the functionality of a crossover with all the benefits of a compact car. Sharing many of the design, utility and technology attributes that have made Rogue Nissan's best-selling vehicle in Canada, the Qashqai brings a slightly smaller, sportier and more affordable option that appeals to this younger, more urban generation of SUV buyers.

"Recognizing a void that exists in the compact crossover segment, Nissan has decided to bring the 2017 Qashqai to Canada and we are thrilled to be showing it at this year's Montreal auto show," said Joni Paiva, president of Nissan Canada Inc. "With more than 2.5-million vehicles sold globally in ten years – with 2-million of those units sold in Europe – the Qashqai continues to be the worldwide crossover benchmark and is an important addition to our Canadian line-up."

The Nissan Sentra compact sedan has achieved some impressive numbers over its more than 30 years and seven generations of production. In Canada, Sentra is Nissan's second best-selling vehicle, behind Rogue. Now, to help keep the momentum going for the 2017 model year and building on the other exciting vehicles being revealed at the MIAS, Nissan is introducing the first-ever 2017 Sentra NISMO. Featuring ample power under the hood, the new Sentra NISMO includes a 1.6-litre Direct Injection Gasoline (DIGTM) turbocharged engine rated at 188 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. The engine is matched with the choice of a 6-speed manual transmission, with gear ratios selected to take maximum advantage of the engine's powerband and torque curve, or an advanced, tuned Xtronic transmission. It is the first mainstream Canadian Nissan model to offer motorsports-inspired NISMO factory-tuned performance and its comprehensive transformation from everyday sedan to a highly personal performance machine includes aggressive exterior treatment, performance-oriented interior and unique suspension tuning.

"The Sentra NISMO is the first introduction of the NISMO brand on a core, affordable Nissan model in Canada, and we are excited to showcase it at this year's Montreal auto show," said Joni Paiva, president, Nissan Canada Inc. "Nissan is committed to going above and beyond, and the Sentra NISMO will undoubtedly set the Sentra nameplate's image on fire."

Providing excitement and innovation in a new, entertaining way, Nissan has partnered with Lucasfilm to create the 2017 Rogue: Rogue One Star Wars Limited Edition. Designed to build awareness and familiarity of the extensively redesigned Rogue – Nissan's best-selling vehicle in Canada – the Limited Edition is an exciting extension to the everyday lineup. Nissan is known for pushing the boundaries of innovation, and the new Rogue, the most advanced Rogue to date, is an example of that. The Star Wars film franchise has been doing the same since its inception 40 years ago, so it made sense for the two to join forces. The Rogue: Rogue One Star Wars Limited Edition is the first-ever full-size production vehicle to include Star Wars- branded elements and only 400 units will be available in Canada. In addition to the wide range of custom features and equipment, each vehicle comes with an exclusive numbered, full-size replica collectible Death Trooper helmet. This year, the Nissan booth at MIAS features a Star Wars theme and a replica of K-2SO, the franchise's newest droid from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, is appearing as a static display for the entire duration of the show.

"The 2017 Rogue: Rogue One Star Wars Limited Edition is sure to give Montreal show goers something to talk about," said Joni Paiva, president, Nissan Canada Inc. "We are excited to give Star Wars fans the chance to engage with a full-scale collectible. And more than just a big kid toy, the Limited Edition is every inch the real thing – a Rogue for every adventure you can imagine."

Today, Nissan Canada also announced a new partnership with FLO, the most comprehensive and reliable charging ecosystem in Canada, in order to encourage and ease EV adoption throughout the country. As of January 2017, the FLO Home charging station is Nissan Canada's recommended residential charging station for owners of its signature vehicle, the Nissan LEAF, and is being showcased at this year's MIAS. "Nissan Canada is pleased to partner with FLO to support the development of electric motoring in Quebec," said François Lefèvre, chief marketing manager, electric vehicles, Nissan Canada Inc. "Since the launch of the Nissan LEAF in 2011, Nissan Canada has demonstrated its commitment to supporting electric mobility in the province of Quebec through its engagement in several projects, notably, the development of public charging infrastructure. We wish to continue our involvement in this regard, and support our LEAF-certified dealerships and also encourage future Nissan LEAF owners in their acquisition of an electric vehicle."
