Mississauga, Ont. – After the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (Ontario) in May and the Formula 1 Grand Prix du Canada (Montreal) in June, the Nissan Sentra Cup presents this weekend the third event of the 2022 season, at the Circuit Mont-Tremblant.

As part of this meeting, the Series' competitors will compete in two new races, the first on Saturday and the second on Sunday. Two races which, for the first time in the history of the series, will be 45 minutes each, to offer to drivers a little more strategy and tire wear management at the wheel of their Nissan Sentra racecars.

This event, which will mark the end of the first half of the season, will also see the debut of Olivier Bédard's Sentra. Three times champion in the Nissan Micra Cup (2015-17-18), Bédard then turned to Open Wheel racing then Endurance and Touring Car racing, notably being 2021 Super Production Challenge Series champion on a Nissan Z. His participation this weekend in the Nissan Sentra Cup will be in the car driven at the Grand Prix du Canada by the defending champion Kevin King (winner of the Sunday race on the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve).

Considering his track record, Olivier Bédard will be one of the favourite drivers for victory, but he will not be the only one. Simon Charbonneau, current championship leader, and Valérie Limoges, ranked second, are battling for the top spot at this point of the season. Since Simon Charbonneau is competing in only his second motorsports' season, Valérie Limoges will want to show her experience on a track she knows to perfection and win her first victory of the year.

Revelation of the start of the season, Justin Arseneau will try to close the gap with the leaders at the top of the standings, as will Alexandre Fortin and veterans Sylvain Ouellet as well as Normand Boyer, who completes the Top 6 in the current championship standings.

In the Micra class, François Angers-Routhier is the favourite, having won the first two races of the season before seeing Samuel Rowe overtake him at the Grand Prix du Canada. In the championship standings, if Angers-Routhier dominates, the young Marie-Soleil Labelle is only 16 points behind, in second place in this class.

Nissan Sentra Cup drivers will be on track no less than six times this weekend, with two free practice sessions, two qualifying sessions and two races, Saturday July 23 then Sunday July 24.

Both races will also be broadcast later in the year on RDS network. For this weekend, fans of the series are invited to follow all the news on the social media of the Nissan Sentra Cup.
