Today Nissan Canada flicked the switch on an all-new Facebook page for Nissan LEAF fans in Canada. The online community will bring together Nissan LEAF advocates and supporters, and provide the opportunity for dialogue around this game-changing vehicle and electric mobility in general.
"Canadians have already demonstrated their avid interest in the Nissan LEAF with thousands of handraisers already signed up on our consumer website," said Judy Wheeler, Director of Marketing, Nissan Canada, Inc. "We're now taking this one step further and providing an interactive forum in which fans can interact, ask questions and learn more about the revolutionary Nissan LEAF."
In addition to the new Facebook page, a Nissan LEAF dedicated Twitter account (@NissanLEAF_CAN) will share up-to-date news and information on all things related to the Nissan LEAF's arrival in Canada this fall. A dedicated moderator from Nissan will manage the Facebook and Twitter accounts, and engage in conversation with and answer questions from fans across Canada.
The expanded digital strategy builds upon the existing Nissan LEAF microsite (www.nissan.ca/LEAF) which was launched in April 2010. The go-to place for all information about the Nissan LEAF, the microsite also provided enthusiasts with the opportunity to become a "handraiser" and be the first to receive hot news and information.
"As Nissan LEAFs start to arrive on Canadian streets a little later this year we expect Facebook and Twitter to become the go-to for both fans and the curious alike," added Wheeler.
More information about Nissan LEAF including the full press kit, images and b-roll are available at www.media.nissan.ca or upon request.
About the Nissan LEAF
The Nissan LEAF is the world's first affordable, mass-marketed zero-emission car designed from the ground up as an electric vehicle. A medium-size hatchback with ample cargo space and comfortable seating for five adults, Nissan LEAF has a range of 160 kilometres (EPA LA4 cycle) on one full charge, providing 90% of Canadians with the range needed for daily commutes.
Powered by a lithium-ion battery, Nissan LEAF generates 107 horsepower, 207 lb-ft of torque providing a highly responsive, fun-to-drive experience. Because there's no traditional engine, Nissan LEAF is ultra-quiet and for safety reasons a sound had to be added so pedestrians could hear the car coming!
